The idea for this website and blog developed from the transition to distance learning that we are all experiencing as schools close due to the coronavirus pandemic. While multiple resources exist online to support student learning, it can be a daunting and time-consuming task to search for and identify high-quality resources. Dr. Paulding’s Learning Lab is here to support YOU!

As we continue with shelter-in-place orders and distance learning, you may be worried that your child will be missing necessary academic instruction to be ready for the next grade level. Take a deep breath; your child will be perfectly fine. Why? Well, keep in mind that they have already finished about ⅔ of the school year, and the majority of essential learning has already occurred. For many students, the final ⅓ of the year is often focused on reviewing earlier learning and completing state testing. Your child simply needs to practice what they have already learned this year to keep skills and knowledge fresh in their minds. In future blog posts, I will be identifying activities you can do with your child to help support essential skills. Also, remember that teachers are aware that while students may be receiving assignments (whether graded or enrichment), they may not have access to technology in order to complete them. Teachers will adjust in the fall to address any gaps students may have as a result of the rapid transition to distance learning.
